About Monsieur Couleur

An authentic story in colors

The Story Behind the Colors

Born in Paris, I spent my childhood between the capital and the southwest of France. From an early age, I was drawn to music, drawing, and colors — passions that shaped me deeply, even if life slowly pushed them into the background.

I later moved to Canada, where I lived for twelve years working in banking and IT. Even in that structured and often austere environment, I brought warmth, clarity, and unexpected vibrancy to everything I touched — so much so that colleagues began calling me “Monsieur Couleur,” a nickname that stayed with me.

After going through a burnout and a deep period of reflection, I made myself a promise:

“To let my passion shape my life, and let my life feed my passion.”

I rebuilt everything from scratch, choosing to leave and settle in Kyoto, Japan, where I still live today. There, I gradually reconnected with my artistic side by working with a street-art label, learning graphic art, digital creation, and painting.

The Birth of “Monsieur Couleur”

The name Monsieur Couleur started as a playful nickname — a simple way colleagues described the unexpected warmth, creativity, and color I brought into a world that was usually the opposite. Over time, the nickname evolved into something deeper: the foundation of a new artistic identity.

This project was born from my desire to reconnect fully with my creativity and my love for art, personalization, and emotional storytelling.

I wanted to offer creations that were not just decorative objects, but pieces that truly touch people, pieces that carry stories and meaning.

Among my motivations:

  • Creating art that feels personal

  • Bringing emotion into everyday spaces

  • Giving people something unique that reflects their memories

  • Making art accessible, far from the exclusivity I had witnessed

Monsieur Couleur draws inspiration from iconic contemporary artists and the visual culture that shaped his childhood. From Blek Le Rat and Banksy, he carries the spirit of street art, bold stencils, and impactful messages. From Yayoi Kusama and Takashi Murakami, he embraces vibrant colors, rhythmic patterns, and the energy of Japanese pop artAnd beneath it all, the anime and cartoons he grew up with continue to fuel his sense of emotion, movement, and character-driven storytelling.

Today, under the name Monsieur Couleur, he blends all these influences into a unique artistic identity — a fusion of color, emotion, memory, storytelling, and accessibility. His creations are made to bring joy, connection, and life into the homes of the people who receive them.

And this is where his story meets yours.

“Creating for someone else is a way of saying: ‘I see you.’”

Together, We Make Art

Human relationships are at the heart of my approach. Whether in art, family, or work, I believe that the most meaningful creations come from collaboration. For me, no important piece is ever made alone — some people bring the words, others bring them to life, and art is always strongest when it is shared.

This is exactly the experience I offer: a process built on dialogue, trust, and genuine connection, where your story becomes the starting point of the artwork.

Each project grows through listening, exchange, and understanding your memories, and shaping the emotion behind the piece so it reflects what matters most to you.
