À propos de Monsieur Couleur
An authentic story in colors
The Story Behind the Colors
Born in Paris, Nicolas spent his childhood between the capital and the southwest of France. From an early age, he was drawn to music, drawing, and colors — passions that shaped him deeply, even if life slowly pushed them into the background, leaving them as hobbies.
He later moved to Canada, where he lived for twelve years and worked in banking and IT. Even in that structured and often austere environment, he brought warmth, clarity, and unexpected vibrancy to everything he touched — so much so that colleagues began calling him “Monsieur Couleur,” a nickname that stayed with him.
After going through a burnout and a deep period of reflection, he made himself a promise:
“To let his passion shape his life, and let his life feed his passion.”
He rebuilt everything from scratch, choosing to leave and settle in Japon, where he still lives today. There, he gradually reconnected with his artistic side by working with a street-art label, learning graphic art, digital creation, and painting.
“To let his passion shape his life, and let his life feed his passion.”
The Birth of “Monsieur Couleur”
The name Monsieur Couleur started as a playful nickname — a simple way colleagues described the unexpected warmth, creativity, and color he brought into a world that was usually the opposite. Over time, the nickname evolved into something deeper: the foundation of a new artistic identity.
The project was born from his desire to reconnect fully with his creativity and his love for art, personalization, and emotional storytelling.
He wanted to offer creations that were not just decorative objects, but pieces that truly touch people, pieces that carry stories and meaning.
Among his motivations:
Creating art that feels personal
Bringing emotion into everyday spaces
Giving people something unique that reflects their memories
Making art accessible, far from the exclusivity he had witnessed
Monsieur Couleur draws inspiration from iconic contemporary artists and the visual culture that shaped his childhood. From Blek Le Rat et Banksy, he carries the spirit of street art, bold stencils, and impactful messages. From Yayoi Kusama et Takashi Murakami, he embraces vibrant colors, rhythmic patterns, and the energy of Japanese pop art. And beneath it all, the anime and cartoons he grew up with continue to fuel his sense of emotion, movement, and character-driven storytelling.
Today, under the name Monsieur Couleur, he blends all these influences into a unique artistic identity — a fusion of color, emotion, memory, storytelling, and accessibility. His creations are made to bring joy, connection, and life into the homes of the people who receive them.
And this is where his story meets yours.
“Creating for someone else is a way of saying: ‘I see you.’”
Together, We Make Art
Human relationships are at the heart of his approach. Whether in art, family, or work, he believes that the most meaningful creations come from collaboration. For him, no important piece is ever made alone — some people bring the words, others bring them to life, and art is always strongest when it is shared.
This is exactly the experience he offers: a process built on dialogue, trust, and genuine connection, where your story becomes the starting point of the artwork.
Each project grows through listening, exchange, understanding your memories, and shaping the emotion behind the piece so it reflects what matters most to you.
